In the news, right now everything seems to be so focused on the primaries, and people's opinions on the lip service all the candidates are giving. It's really quite boring. I can't find any stories to sink my teeth into except the continuation of stories that I've already exhausted any opinion in.
There are natural disasters, there are horrible things that other countries are doing to their people, but I'm poor and can't really do anything about the situations in those countries, even if it was to donate money over there--I can't afford that right now. There's not really anything to discuss about those countries other than saying "Those countries are doing terrible things" and the rebuttal is "yeah, it's been happening for a long time, so what.".
And so a lull in political discussion has come into place for me. That's okay, it happens. For the next few days I'll probably be focusing on more "fun" posts than anything. I'll get right back into politics when things change enough to talk about anything other than "look at the doomsday economy".
Does it seem like a lull everywhere though, like everything's just a big repeat/rerun?

That's cool. I was in a feisty mood last night and just giving you shit, I hope you weren't offended.

Honestly, I hate the way American approaches politics. It's absurd and far too long. Most of it is insubstantial nonsense anyway. It's like watching a horse race, not an important political event. It's all about statistics, who is ahead, not about any important, detailed analyses of issues. It doesn't hurt that so many of them offer the same thing with different slogans, except for the people who will never win.
I prefer a proportional system with run-off choices, that way I don't have to piss my vote away on people just because they have a better chance of winning. In that event, I would allocate my vote to my first choice, and then to the second "winner" if the first doesn't win.

I will agree to this and I would like to see public financing also.
