The mathematical pattern is me. I was reminded of the way it fits with all the other patterns, personally. Personally. It's just fuckin' amazing. Here I am, in tears again.....

Everything has a mathematical formula. These formulas fit together like gears, but they're beyond the 3 dimensions that we know. Think of 4 dimensional gears. I am a 4 dimensional gear (but really way beyond 4 dimensions, but that's neither here nor there), I am a mathematical phenomenon. Everyone is a mathematical phenomenon. All the gears, one way or another, in whatever dimension, fit together. Whether it's a physical dimension or a dimension within someone's consciousness it does not matter--everything fits together. When one doesn't know their way, and everything starts to lose its meaning, one is losing his or her sense of how the gears fit together. This was a personal reminder of that math.

I believe that God invented math and gave it to us as the only perfect science we'll ever experience on Earth. But that may be irrelevant to what you are talking about.

Have you guys seen the movie Pi? It sort of reminds me of this conversation. (If you haven't seen it, you should.)

Oh man. You are going to love this movie. I can't believe you've never seen it, honestly.

Here is the amazon.com link

If for no other reason, you should click that link to read the basic premise of the story.

Man, I cannot believe you haven't seen it. I am excited for you to see it. Because it is completely like what you are talking about. I haven't seen the movie in years, but I remember that my favorite teacher in highschool (who happened to be a math teacher) used to play this movie at the end of every semester for calculus.

I am sure math people will 'get it' a lot more than I would, but I remember even I got a lot out of it.

To clarify, I was never in calculus. But I was a TA for the class because I enjoyed spending time with my math teacher. (We are still friends to this day.)

I am probably in the minority here, but I do not believe in God. I was baptized Catholic as a newborn. My family always kind of half-assed church. We went, but that was the extent of it. We never had religious conversations about anything at home. My mom is kind of a detached mother, and my father was gone a lot with the military. I really can't ever remember truly believing in God. I do find that there is a small difference in me than quite a few of the other Atheists that I have encountered. I don't really care what anyone else believes. To each his own. I never try to press my beliefs on people, and even enjoy hearing what others believe. Where I draw the line is when others try to tell me I have no morals because I do not believe in a God of any kind. I will then walk away. I know, kind of a blah explanation, but it really doesn't bother me when people don't think like me. It just bothers me when they try to tell me how wrong I am for believing the way I do.

That was a great post.

I think one thing that happens a lot with people who -convert- to atheism instead of just not being taught about God in the first place, is that there's less of a tendency to preach anti-religion. Less of that "I did that already and I know--you just believe in stupidity" kind of thing.

I wish more atheists had your perspective. Smile

No. I don't. God doesn't exist. I don't believe in God, just like I don't believe in invisible friends, easter bunnies, santa claus, or leprechauns. I grew up and out of fantasy a long time ago.
