|
|
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/31/us/politics/31campaign.html?ref=politics
| Quote: | | SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — Rudolph W. Giuliani, the combative former Republican mayor of New York City, and John Edwards, the Democrat who ran for the White House as an anti-poverty populist, both dropped out of the presidential race on Wednesday, leaving a narrowed field hurtling toward what amounts to a national primary next week. |
Well, at least we don't have to worry about Giuliani redefining the word "freedom" to mean "following authority". Now on the right we just have to worry about Mr. Let's Amend The Constitution To Be More Christian Huckabee. Let's hope he drops out soon too.

Lets hope that Huck stays in for a bit to split the vote with Romney and McCain. Then, let's hope that Paul or Bloomberg or someone tires to run as an independent that way the conservatives are split in the general.
And of course lets hope that Mr. Hope himself Barack Obama pulls off the Democratic Nomination.

I don't think a 3rd party candidate will emerge on the right.
I would think its more likely if the democrats nominate Hillary - you will get an antiwar candidate on the left.
I think the question of the day is where do the Edwards voters go?
Were these more than not anti-Hillary voters who will now go to Obama? I hope so.

The candidates we have now is what the media has been working on for months. They had their choices and now U have their choices.

Pretty much. Quite sad really.
Something that a number of people in person have told me when talking about this subject is that if EITHER Hillary or Barrack become president, some wacko racist/sexist person will probably try to make an assassination attempt, and if it happens to Obama, and if they were successful, we would have a civil war in this country that would make the first civil war look tame.
