What did people used (or abused the name of) more than anything else to legitimize not giving women rights and not outlawing slavery? Religion and tradition. That's why I make that association. Notice I said "people used (or abused in the name of)". When you look at all the countries that have the most problems, the most intolerance, the most persecution of people for having alternate lifestyles are the countries in which church and state are either very very close or they are completely fused together.

Religion should be a personal thing and it should NEVER be outlawed--the idea of thought police is horrible.
