$100 oil barrels, $5 a gallon gas, housing market collapsing, yeah, some great times. Where was it that republicans claim that Bush is doing a good job?

How the hell are people supposed to be able afford commutes at that price?

How long will it be before the prices of EVERYTHING starts to go up?

Man oh man this sucks. It's already up to $3.65 here for super unleaded, and it seems to go up 10 cents every other week.

We hit $3.89 the other day. It's getting ridiculous. I am so glad my commute to school is less than 5 miles. The sad thing is, when my husband comes home, he has to drive about 50 miles round trip to work. It's absolutely going to kill us.

Sad to say it can only get worse.

Indeed. This is why I am proud to say that I drive a honda with 30 mpg, and that I take the bus whenever I can. I just hope those rates don't go up.......

I remember when taking the bus was about 25 cents, and I'm not that old. Now it's like a buck fifty, climbing up to the prices that the express (Tacoma/Seattle) was just a few years ago....

I'm glad I have the little truck I do--it gets mileage in the 30's too.

Speaking of feeling old-- and I am definitely not old-- I remember when it was only $1.60 per gallon to buy gas, from THE GOOD places, (not arco.) I long for prices like that!

In '99, when I was in Texas, I could get gas for 79 cents a gallon!

I don't drive very much in comparison to most people. I get like 13mpg. $100 every two weeks to fill up.

I haven't been driving much at all lately--I've been glued to the computer working on graphics projects.

The menu has already been changed around radically. I completely agree that it was set up very poorly before. There are still a number of things to be worked out, but he's wanting to make the kinds of changes necessary to keep people interested, and he seems to be listening very well to people's suggestions. The menus are night and day difference from before--and even more changes are planned for the future.

I had a tendency not to go to that forum as much because it tilts SO heavily on the left. The fact that he wants to change this is encouraging. I know that OnTheLeft.org seems like it would tilt that way if for nothing else but the name, and it SLIGHTLY does, but it has enough from the other side to keep it interesting for me.

This may surprise many of you:

Gas prices should be higher.
The gov't should increase the gasoline tax by $1.00 per gallon.

Surprised?

Why do you think the government should raise the prices of gas? What would that accomplish? It would seem to me that that would make the price of everything, necessities, skyrocket.
