How much higher can the gas prices go before prices start to skyrocket for everyday items--food and necessities?

I've already seen the prices of many things at the grocery store start to go up, but not SIGNIFICANTLY yet.

I think when it reaches $4.50 a gallon, we're going to start really seeing a significant increase in everything, and WHEN it reaches $5.00 a gallon, we're going to really be in trouble.

Kizzume,

The prices have ALREADY skyrocketed on everything. EVERYTHING is more expensive now. Every time I go to costco, which is now only once a month to try and combat inflation, the price is higher. The one experience I todl you about wasn't the only one. The prices haven't stopped going up, on EVERYTHING.

But it hasn't been a SIGNIFICANT price increase. Sure, things have went up.

Getting frozen chicken at Costco--the boneless skinless raw frozen chicken--used to be $10.50, now it's about $12.00.

Getting a custom sandwich made at Fred Meyer used to be $3.99, now it's $4.99.

Bread everywhere has went up by about 50 cents.

There have been increases, but nothing truly MAJOR yet. When I say significant, I'm talking where the price has a 50% increase or more. I think once the price reaches $4.50, we're going to see that kind of increase.

If this country doesn't focus on public transportation really soon, there are going to be a LOT of people out of work over the next 5 years.
