|
|
So far this guy has put up 3739 files online. These are from his collection of 78 RPM records. Incredible collection of old time tunes.
My Collection of 78 RPM records - Free Mp3s!
Like all good things on the web, get 'em now while they are still available. My hat goes off to this guy for his efforts. Most of the artists are dead and/or copyright has run out so there is no worry about the RIAA getting involved although I wouldn't put it past them.

What specific error message? What browser, what plugins/widgets for that browser, if any?

Interesting--Yahoo was threatening to shut it down:
| Quote: | Hello, Everyone. My web host provider (Yahoo) shut down my web site because of high volumes of data transfer. Apparently, several folks, thousands each day, were downloading the entire music library, which is over 10 gigabytes, and that was placing a strain on their servers. My web hosting program offers Unlimited Data Transfer, but the amount of data being transfered was greater than the unlimited amount I was alotted so they shut it down. After much negotiation with the Yahoo techs and management, the only option available to get my domain up again was to not allow anyone to download stuff from my domain. The music files are still there, but I am not allowed to grant access to anyone as they might start downloading again and that will result in my web site and domain being permanently shut down. I was very close to that already, so this option at least got my domain up again. I am trying to set up streaming of the music so folks will at least be able to listen to the music, but I don't know anything about how to do that, so it will be a while until I figure it out. In the meantime, I will get the list up again, though no downloads will be available.

Bummer. Was an awesome site. Hope he can find a sponsor or a provider that really does offer unlimited and means unlimited data transfer.
Then again, maybe those leechers who managed to grab the whole archive could just host these somewhere as a mirror? Several mirrors.
