I've watched his speeches before but have never been moved like this before.
I cried earlier when I turned on CNN and saw Obama. I cried because I saw someone up on a podium speaking his mind, not reading off a card, and saying things that ring very true to me, and THIS is the person who is competing for being the leader of the country, or at the very least, the figurehead of the country. What he said about Social Security and a number of other issues, was said in a way that was so convincing that he really truly believes in what he's saying that I was brought to tears. I just don't know what to say about his speech I saw today, but I really feel he is exactly what this country needs. I've never cried from a speech before. I've heard about people crying from political speeches and thought they must have been on something.
He's talking about definitive things he wants to do to meet the lofty goals he has. He's not just giving fluff--he's not just saying over and over "this country is great but it could be better" stuff, he's really talking about what he wants to do to make change. I haven't had a reason to really believe in a candidate before, but right now I have more reason to believe than ever before. Obama has me, I've been Obamified.

I've never been moved by political speeches from anyone before, not like this. I'm usually the first person to say "oh it's all a bunch of fluff", but I'm not seeing that with him. He has really surprised me.

Me too. We don't need 100 more years in Iraq.

I felt so burned by Clinton. I hope Obama doesn't do that to us.

I'll be interested to find out (if they ever make it public) what went on with his meeting with the conservative religious leaders earlier this week...and just what he promised them.

There was only one democratic candidate that was completely pro-gay, and that was Kucinich. I don't actually expect Obama to make any changes in favor of gays, but I also don't expect him to make any changes against gays either--I think he's going to leave the subject of gay people completely alone.

Well, that's at least good to hear. On gay issues it will always be hard for me to trust the democrats when they try to get gay support, at least until they start to prove they'll actually walk the walk. I don't even mention republicans because they're just generally, I repeat GENERALLY, anti-gay when it comes to policy.

Yeah, just like you can hope you don't get run over by a car, but that's not within your realm of control now, is it? No, if you don't want Obama to fuck us all over (and we will, make no mistake), then you have to take action to make sure it doesn't happen.
