There seems to be a group of people dedicated to trying to get Lou Dobbs to sign up to be a presidential candidate as an independent.
I actually like Lou Dobbs a LOT. Some people consider him to be too republican, but he considers himself an independent populist, and so far there is very little that I disagree with him on.
Here is the website dedicated to it.

here is a google news search about it, quite a few stories about it:

Do I think he has a chance. No. But it's interesting nevertheless.

I think at this point, anyone new coming into the picture just seems to upset people--and there are several reasons why it might upset people.
The one about "it might take away votes from THIS side" or "THAT side" doesn't hold for me. Unless we're talking someone like Perot if he wouldn't have dropped out and came back in later--then someone like that really would have a chance.
The amount of money it costs now to get any decent amount of coverage is so ridiculous now, unless you happen to be one of media's favorites. Lou Dobbs would certainly get CNN's support, but how about the other networks?

He could never win - he's an entertainer - and people know it.

But so was Reagan and so was Clinton, to a large degree. Being an entertainer is unfortunately the element that people end up basing who is a "good" president on.

Reagan was - but Clinton wasn't. He was a successful politican. Now whether or not that is the same thing as an entertainer is a matter for a different discussion LOL.

Clinton hardly kept any of his promises. Reagan kept most of his. Not to prop Reagan up or anything--I thought his policies were horrible.
