It's looking like Pakistan is losing support from western nations and if it continues, might even be facing sanctions?

This isn't looking good.

This thread on OTL brought it to my attention

http://www.ontheleft.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5703&hl=

after I hadn't really given it as much thought as I should have when I saw it discussed on APF.

I think this situation poses a potentially ugly scenario coming up. How many more ugly scnarios do we need?

Exactly. This is actually something to be worried about. Iran is, well, not.

All the stuff about Musharraf returning the country to democracy, is crap. When exactly was Pakistan ever a democratic country? It played with democracy on occassions, but it has never fully embraced it.

I wonder if the reason why Bush hasn't condemned them more is because maybe he's planning martial law here at some point------naw....

I hope that isn't the case. You know, I was looking at homes in Norway, and it turns out there are pretty nice little cottages for as low as 8,000 Euros. That means like $12,000. (Of course, that is the lowest of the low. The one I want to buy would be $32,000 American after conversion.) Still, man, I have been day trading my savings account etrade trying to make some money (because I just scrape by with my job.) In an idealistic scenario, I would be moving to Norway some day in the next couple years. If we go through a period of Martial Law, you have my word I won't want to live in this country anymore and will be desperate to flee!

What I like about Norway, is they hardly EVER go to war, are rated MOST PEACEFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD by the global peace index, and once you become a citizen you have free health care, and also, they have a beautiful country and culture.

Not to mention, it is one of the wealthiest nations in the world. I guess a little bit of regulation on the free market isn't as destructive as some neocons may argue!

One other thing worth mentioning-- Civil Unions are legal in Norway.

Still, I am not so sure I could easily pick up the language. I can't imagine trying to learn the Norwegian language, honestly. But long story short, I don't want to live in a country that is always at war, or one that would threaten martial law.

If Giulani becomes president, I think we can be assured of martial law, since freedom = authority you know :Smile

Will this country withstand a scenario of martial law? Will the people revolt? How long would it be before total collapse if martial law is put into place in this country?

Bhutto has been arrested. Let the protests begin.
