In trying to find a good copy to embed, I ran into this one as well:

Sorry, had to put that in there.

As far as the trailer to this--it finally looks like they'll be actually DIRTY, as in, dust and filth and dirt--not a pristine clean perfect reality. There looks like there could be some potential going on--but we'll know when better trailers come up.

As someone who goes out and sees lots of movies I have to be honest-- I am getting tired of the coporate machine re-hashing old ideas and just beating a dead horse.

Let me give some examples of recent rehashes that were nowhere near as good as their originals:

Off the top of my head

Rambo, Rocky, Die Hard, Terminator, Aliens (Alien VS. Predator), Shrek 3, Batman, Ninja Turtles (they had a computer animated one that was awful), Alvin and the Chipmunks (mediocre), and honestly even though its been a little while now-- Star wars.

And don't get me started on all the horror movies that are really just copying each other.

I get tired of seeing good or at least mediocre stories being milked to death.

Yeah--this really could be just another rehash, but maybe not. We'll just have to see. I'm excited if they're able to get rid of the fluffy happy extra-clean elements that have been in most of the star treks and still retain a good plotline with good acting.

Well I definitely like sci-fi if its done right, no doubt of that. Star Wars-- the original series-- is still one of my favorite to watch, and back when they had Star Trek on television I used to watch it. I mostly watched Voyager just because I wasn't old enough to enjoy the others, but I also occasionally watched Deep Space Nine which I thought was pretty sweet.

Deep Space Nine and Voyager were by far the best as they were gritty. They showed the darker sides of human nature and I like that because it shows you just how good the good people were. Without a stark comparison the message gets lost.

I'll go see it as I've been first in line to see the past four Trek movies at our local theater. It would suck to break tradition.
