Radiohead's newest album is going to be on a pay-what-you-want basis. I find this to be quite interesting.

I don't think it's going to be the new model for the industry in any way, but it's interesting nevertheless.

I will definitely check it out though. I appreciate Radiohead's music and will be curious to know what this album is all about.

I'll definitely check it out. I guess I forgot to mention that. Previously I just said it was interesting.

I pre-ordered the download off of their website (for 0.00) and I have to say, I'm planning on buying the $80.00 box set as soon as I can. The music is very good, it's a smart mix of their Pablo Honey Days, their OK Computer days, and their Amnesiac days. The songs are good, my current favorite is Reckoner, which has great rock beats, smooth OK Computer inspired Yorke signature moans and wails, and very nice organic riffs and arrangements. On the whole, the album is short, but the fact that Radiohead is offering it at a scalable pricepoint shows that they want their customers to have their music, and it is good music. Any self-respecting Radiohead fan should give this album a shot, there's nothing to lose.

I haven't checked it out yet, and I really need to.

I am currently in the queue.

EDIT: I am currently downloading it.

This album is pretty good. It's not QUITE to the level of OK Computer, but it's really good. Smile It will probably grow on me. Smile

Ya, at first I did exactly what you did, I compared it to what I considered their finest work to date. After a few repeated listenings though, and letting it play in the background while I did other stuff I started to really groove to it, and now I love it. I think it is VERY close behind The Bends, and just eekes out Pablo honey in terms of preference, the first being of course, OK Computer.

My favorite song is currently Reckoner, followed by Weird Fishes/Arpeggi. The album really has a nice laid back sound, as if their relief of being out from under a label came out through their music.

Damn, I guess I will have to give it a listen soon! Curious, how do you think this compares to "Ok Computer"?

I think it ranks right up there with OK computer, in my mind. It's not as pop-radio friendly as OK computer, but I love it.

I finally gave it a thorough listen. I still like OK Computer about twice as much, but In Rainbows isn't a disappointment. I'd say it still lives up to the Radiohead standards. Its just that OK Computer is their masterpiece. I can't believe I only have OK Computer in 128 kbps.....ugh......
