Or Season 3, as it is called here in the states. I had a chance to watch it on DVD yesterday, the whole third series. This Summer my TV died on me about half way through it, so I missed the best part. Furthermore, in 2006 a lightning strike sent a surge through my house taking out the color chip in my old television set. So for more than a year I had to suffer with B&W TV. It really killed the enjoyment because I like color. Well, B&W is fine for something that was filmed in B&W, but for stuff filmed in color it sucks. Anyway, I was blown away by the writing and the story arc that developed. Even the cheesiest programs in Britain are far better written than most of what we produce. Loose ends from Seasons 1 and 2 were tied up, we got to see the return of one of the Doctor's deadliest foes, and a guest spot by Shakespearean actor Derek Jacobi. All in all, it was a very entertaining day yesterday.

Even though the effects suck, the show is great. I've liked Dr. Who since the earlier series.
In one of the earlier series, I'll never forget the episode where there was a disease that was crafted just for people that were in deep space in specific circumstances that made people forget how to do basic things before their brains basically scrambled--and just as they were about to give Dr. Who the formula for it so they could save others from the same fate, the person reading it forgot how to read.

I was a fan of the original series myself, and I for one thought that bit was brilliantly done.
