I am suffering from a bad situation. I just bought another Talking Heads album and it was no go. I have listened to pretty much their whole catalogue, and the only album of theirs I like is Remain in LIght. But I don't just like Remain in Light. I love Remain in Light. It is one of my fav albums of all time. So you'd think I could get into their other stuff. But it just isn't happening. I can't do it. I don't like any of it. I thought I would like Fear of Music since it also involved Eno. Apparently, it didn't involve him enough ;( |
I haven't heard enough of Talking Heads to know. I've liked what I've heard, and David Byrne has some interesting solo material, but I don't know enough about their albums to know.

Listening to "And so I know" right now. I have always liked the Stone Temple Pilots. I hate the lead singers latest project though
My favorites are pretty cliche with Stone Temple Pilots. Sour Girl off No. 4 is my favorite of theirs, and Big Bang Baby from the vatican one is my second favorite. I think those are probably their most popular, too....
Also, Lady Picture Show. I like that one a lot, too.

Well if you do end up exploring them, I definitely recommend "Remain In Light" as the album to check out. It really is their best. Also their best produced (1 of 2 that was produced by Eno.) It was their second album with Eno, and they seemed to give him more say on that one. I don't think he is the only reason why it is good though. I also think it is their best material. Lyrically, "Once In A Lifetime" is just fabulous, and same for "Listening Wind." Wow!

Yeah, I'll check those out.
I'm not much of a fan of Velvet Revolver.

Oh my goodness. I love Modwheelmood. Just bought their download-only album.
Listen to the single off the EP, "Mhz" on their myspace.
http://www.myspace.com/modwheelmood
The rest of the stuff on there is just remixes of other people's music I think.

IT is really really good, isn't it? I dont' know if you noticed but on his blog he has "problem me" available to download. They have a physical CD which I just ordered from Amazon.com and I paid for their latest download exclusive. It seemed reasonably priced to me $4.98-- and for various reasons -- including the lack of manufacturing costs-- the artist is actually getting some of that money. I could give it to you, but I would feel guilty doing it. I am hoping people will support these guys because in my opinion their music is really amazing. On par with some of Brian Eno's work, but with their own flavor.
They have another EP coming out in 3 weeks. I will be paying to download that one, too, and then combining it with "Vol.1" to make a whole CD. (The one for sale right now as download only is called Vol.1 and the one coming out February 5 is Pearls to pigs Vol. 2.)
The unfortunate thing is that they need money in order to survive. They need sales in order to keep what they have in terms of support. I hope people start buying this music because I would love a full length album. In fact, I would pay up to $30 if they did a double disc epic sort of like NIN's The Fragile. I mean, I really really appreciate this music. They are one of my favorite new groups. I discovered them actually when they remixed a NIN song. And for the record, it is by far the best remix on the entire "YEAR ZERO REMIXED" CD.

I'm going to be keeping them in my radar, that's for sure. Really good stuff.

I absolutely love "Room Noises" by Eisley. I have had it for a few years, but the last few days it has been living in my CD player. Great album.

Right now I'm at my brother's place, and he'd rather I didn't surf around trying to find clips---but I'll check out Eisley when I get back home, particularly that song. I hadn't heard of Eisley previously.
If someone reads this and would like to post a youtube link or embed an mp3 of it into the post or something, I could hear it before I get home

that's a good idea kizzume. I have actually never embedded something on youtube. Is that easy to do? That would be a great way to show people cool music without making them download.

I was meaning embedding a youtube video into a post or embedding an mp3 into a post.
you embed a youtube video by this
| Code: | | |
When you're in the full editor, you can just click the youtube icon and then paste the location right there.
If you want to embed an mp3, just click the thing that looks like a speaker and put in the address to the mp3 file. The only thing I don't like about it is that right now it's set up to automatically play the song as soon as it is loaded. I'll fix that hopefully soon.

Great performance. It threw me off at first when I heard him say when he was a little girl.
