| Quote: | The Supreme Court yesterday agreed to decide whether tobacco companies can be sued in state courts for deceptive advertising of "light" cigarettes and if drugmakers should be protected from some patient lawsuits.
In addition, the court said it will consider whether federal law protects a worker from being fired after participating in a sexual harassment investigation of her boss, and will hear a separate claim of age discrimination. |
I think the more we can prevent frivolous lawsuits the better. I think the whole idea of ANYONE suing the tobacco industry is just plain ridiculous. They have warnings all over them, on light cigarettes and all cigarettes. Anyone who tries to claim they didn't know cigarettes were bad for them is either a con artist or is retarded.
The sexual harassment thing--that's pretty weird. So, someone thinks they should be able to start a lawsuit against their boss and if they lose, they still get to keep their job? I just don't know how I feel about that--it doesn't seem right to force that employer to have to deal with someone who has caused that much grief.
What do you think?
