There was a certain amount of ambivalence tonight as I watched the results come in in Florida. A couple things.
I was thinking, hallelujah! Mitt Romney defeated! Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for that bastard!
Then I was thinking, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiat, Hillary Clinton won in Florida, and is totally going to play this up in hopes of gaining momentum for super tuesday.
Tonight leaves me with my favorite candidate from the right-- John McCain-- and my least favorite candidate from the left -- Hillary. Now the thing is, I am more on the liberal side than conservative, so my favorite on the right, theoretically, would probably be about the same as my least favorite on the left.
Sure enough, that seems to be the case between Hillary and Mccain.
I was looking through their issues today on CNN.com, and noticed, that they stand for a lot of IDENTICAL SOLUTIONS!
Iraq-- Both approved the invasion
Gay Marriage-- Both are against it.
Civil Unions-- both are for it!
Bush Tax Cuts-- 2001 and 2003, both voted against. (McCain later voted to extend them though, mostly to secure republican nomination)
Stem Cell Research-- Both openly support it
Immigration reform-- Both supported and voted for Bush's plan
Health Care-- Neither are for Universal Health care. Both have similar ways they want to help it. Both support the tax credits for poor and middle class people that can go toward health care..... Hillary wants to regulate it more, McCain wants to "raise more awareness." Meh. Neither stand for change in this field.
Wow, way too much in common? Yeah, my thoughts, too.
Of course, they do have some minor partisan differences. Hillary is for more gun control, McCain is for less. Hillary voted against Bush's social security plan, McCain voted for it. Hillary supports abortion rights, McCain doesn't.
That's about the only differences I see. How pathetic. In my opinon, they should both be running together, one as the president, and the other as the vice.
I am still pulling for Obama to win the democratic nomination. But if he doesn't, I am much happier with McCain than Mitt Romney. WHereas McCain is at about the same level as Hillary in terms of political stances, Mitt Romney is more similar to Bush.

I would prefer to have someone who actually does what they say vs. someone who just gives lip service and then does something else. If it's between McCain and Hillary, the choice is clear. McCain. _________________ Meow.
It appears that some Conservatives do not like McCain. I am just wondering how much influence these extremely vocal Conservatives, like Ann Coulter, will have over other Conservatives.
At this point, I am pretty sure that I could not support Hillary or McCain. I really want this war to end, and with McCain as president, that will probably not happen any time soon. Hillary supported the war from the beginning, and later tried to blame the current administration for her vote saying they provided misleading information. However, anyone with basic knowledge of American history should know that propaganda is just part of the war game. Therefore, I have a hard time believing that Hillary was really that naive to believe the crap provided by the Bush administration.
PS - McCain seems pretty soft on immigration. If McCain becomes president, will Conservatives still be preoccupied with the issue of immigration? Who know?

They probably will still be preoccupied with that., and with good reason though. It IS something that needs to be tackled, and I hope that whoever tackles it does it in a similar way to Arizona. _________________ Meow.

As I mentioned earlier, I do not believe that McCain will have the "hard ass" approach to immigration like many people would like. That will be a big disappointment for the conservatives who have been recently obsessed about the issue. Just saying...
