Which was worse for style? The 70's or the 80's?

Here are some lovely 70's for you:

And here are some lovely 80's for you:

It's really hard to say. Both periods had atrocious styles.

But maybe you think another decade had even worse fashion. What do you think?

Dude, the plaidstallions are hot. That is hot clothing.

As for the guy clothing, I don't see what's so bad. I think it's all sort of cool!

The 80s clothing pictures you have provided, however, are a totally different story!

To me, the 70's were the ugliest, but the 80's were the most embarrassing.

The huge collared shirts, the yellow shirts with brown slacks, the strangely tight-fitting outfits that look like they should be a loose style, the loose-fitting outfits that look like they should be tight, the leisure suits, pin stripes, knee-high socks with red and yellow stripes worn with pinstriped gym shorts that were shorter than most underwear and had openings on both sides, medium-length just-woke-up hair or really long overcombed hair with no products, tall clogs, just really ugly stuff.

There are some things that are ugly and awful, however, that I like. There are some really horrendous styles that I like, like half-shirts for men (or maybe not quite half-shirts, but ones that expose at least a little bit of belly)--I like seeing a guy's stomach, why should women be the only ones to show off some belly? I like, gasp, shorter shorts--not quite daisy-duke or the extra short gym shorts, but above the knee at least. I also like fringe (and I like clothing that looks really old--for some reason, I actually REALLY like the look of a threadbare t-shirt that has a few holes here and there, but that's not really a "style", it's just old clothing).

So, just so you know, just because I think something is ugly doesn't necessarily mean that I hate it. The Scion XB is really ugly but I love it.

If one really looks at style though, I think the period we're in now is going to be looked back and laughed at possibly more than the 70's. I think starting in 2009, we're going to start going into more embarrassing styles--the return of neon colors and shoulder pads and "glimmering" clothing, and by 2011 we'll start to see the return of leggings and spandex again. Yep, it's gonna get worse. The only good thing about what's coming up is the decrease of gangster style pants worn halfway or all the way down one's ass--they'll be able to wear regular looking clothing while everyone else is starting to look like a clown with shoulder pads. We're gonna see women with aqua-to-purple eyeshadow. We're also going to see the return of big hair, but it won't be quite as frizzed out as it was in the 80's before the refined hair products of the 90's came out. Big hair, over-the-top outfits, bright colors and things that stick out like a sore thumb, but again, that will be about 2011 and by 2012 it will start to be commonplace, by 2014 it will be the standard, and by 2016 it will start its decline and the next trend will slowly begin to emerge.

This is my prediction anyway based on if we're able to turn a number of things in this country around because the new president doesn't just do more of the same as the Bush administration, if we're able to somehow get our economy going and better foreign relations.

If not, well, people will be wearing whatever they can afford.

The 80s actually produced some hot babes in clothing that complemented their sexiness. Case in point:

Smokin'!

The 70s...not so much.

You have forgotten some of the other great styles of the '70's though!
