Is everyone racist, sexist?
This is a question that goes through my head a lot.
We initially respond to people based on their appearance (visual appearance like what you could see in a photograph, and then mannerisms), it is generally our first response and defense mechanism. When people that we right away feel that we do not truly know very much about their culture come up to us, there is a fear. If it happens to fall under someone's skin color once in a while, does that make someone racist or sexist? It would seem to me that it does.
I think everybody to some degree or another is racist, sexist, and classist (if that's a word), and everyone prejudges a situation they're in before they act unless they don't have the mental capacity to do such.
How do you feel about this? Is everyone racist and sexist to some degree, even if they don't turn it into something negative? _________________ "Yes, we're here from the department of justice and we're here to adjust the beds." --Doug McKenzie

I agree. It's part of human nature to evaluate situations and those are all methods of evaluation. I'm just going to leave it in a clinical sense because I don't want to get emotions involved in it. _________________ www.politicalwrinkles.com www.kizzumeforum.com www.politicalfever.org

In a clinical sense is definitely the best way to look at it. _________________ "Yes, we're here from the department of justice and we're here to adjust the beds." --Doug McKenzie
As human beings with the ability to reason we are supposed to go beyond and rise above our nature. One could say that this is what laws, education and government are for.

Avenue Q is a strange act. I hadn't heard of them before. Thanks for that. _________________ "Yes, we're here from the department of justice and we're here to adjust the beds." --Doug McKenzie

Avenue Q is a major Broadway show - won best musical a couple of years ago. It's hysterical - it's just Sesame Street for grown-ups.
Some of the best songs are "It Sucks to Be Me" "The Internet is for Porn" ... and my favorite lyric - to a very sweet swelling ballad - "There's a fine, fine line between love ... and a waste of time. _________________ ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Okay, now that I've seen more clips, I think I've seen a little snippet about it sometime in the past couple years on CNN and that it was causing controversy because it was using a kids format for something adult. Still though, some of it is hilarious that I've seen. _________________ "Yes, we're here from the department of justice and we're here to adjust the beds." --Doug McKenzie
