Weirdest thing about my current computer. For the longest time I thought maybe it was a bad sound card or something. But I narrowed it down to a very bizarre situation:
If I use Itunes, my sound system sounds grrrreat!
If I use flv player, the vids sound great.
Power DVD, same thing, including for music dvds.
If I use any kind of flash movie on the internet, or streaming audio, sounds good.
For some reason, reason's unknown to me, when I play music or movies through WMP, it sounds utterly terrible. We aren't talking just bad. We are talking like, there is a constant cackle and buzzing sound. Now for the longest time, I thought it must be my speakers so I just didn't use them. Then I said, "fuck this" and started using headphones with the same effect. Thought it had to be the computer. But then when I started using other applications, and my soundsystem sounds great, well, even though it makes absolutely no sense, WMP is the only source of the problem.
Any possible clues for why WMP would be doing this? I have ALL my music, vids, etc, loaded thorugh it so I don't want to have to switch to something else. Should I look for an upgrade, uninstall and then reinstall, or what? Is this a virus? I have scanned and am not finding any viruses.
Help.

Does it still crackle when you disconnect your computer from the internet?

That's what I'm meaning. What happens when you disconnect from the internet and USE WMP. Does it still crackle then?

I'll test it, but do you mean disconnect from Firefox, or literally disconnect my internet?
EDIT: Same problem either way

I was meaning completely disconnecting from your ISP and testing it then.
Okay, was just checking to see if it was one of the problems I was reading about. I'll ask some more questions about it in a moment...

Mine is working okay, but I'm not on WMP11, I'm still using version 9 that came with Windows since I usually use RealPlayer, although I hate the NEW RealPlayer and am switching back to the old one--this new one takes 10 times as long to load--the earlier versions loaded almost instantly and played the song almost instantly.
