The head of our current indie label, AudioJerkRecords, next week, is going to be giving our demo IN PERSON to 4 major labels, including Arista and Warner. This could be absolutely huge! As much as I know how much people can get screwed by a record label, the idea of hearing The Mercury Rising on the radio is quite tantalizing, and the idea of getting REAL exposure is more exciting than anything that has ever happened to me.
Some people in the band are working for a company that sets up and takes down everything needed for large shows, at stadiums and amphitheaters--ZZ Top and their crew heard a rough mix of our demo and were listening to it in their van for hours, enjoying the music in general but continually commenting on how great they thought the vocalist was.
We've got our show coming up on the 28th and I believe on the 4th we're playing at Hell's Kitchen. Our tour of the west coast is being planned. No matter what happens with the labels, we're still going to tour.
If we get signed by one of those 4 labels, we can ensure that we're on our way to fulfilling a lifelong dream. If they want to lock us into a contract where we have to put out an album a year, so be it, we can handle it, and we have enough great musicianship and talent and songwriting ability between all of us to make that a very easy goal. I know it has taken us quite a while to record this album, but most of that time has been learning that we can't skimp on equipment--we've had to make a lot of investments and learned the hard way about a lot of things. Making new albums in the future should happen in 1/10 of the time.
I can't even describe how excited I am!

Sounds sweet dude. Best of luck. I hope you DON'T get LOCKED into a super long contract or something like you mentioned, but I admire your confidence that the band can put out an album a year if it has to.
Best wishes

Where is Hell's Kitchen, anyway? It is sort of hard to get details about it online. Is it a bar, club, venue?

Well, the demo has been given to the head of AudioJerkRecords and we'll know within a couple days whether we need to remix any of it in order for it to be given to the big guys.
