Coming into this movie there were certain assumptions coming in on my part. Or, certain things I expected. Those things are this:

1. Ghetto kids in the theater probably making lots of noise and tossing shit on seats.

2. Something will happen in the movie, at least once, that makes me incredibly mad.

I was correct-- to an extent about both. THere were ghetto kids in the theatre, but they weren't nearly as bad as they could have been. AS for the movie, I knew there would be at least one part that would piss the fuck out of me, because I hate ghetto crap, but I was significantly less angry with that scene than say Alpha Dog, my least favorite movie in modern history, which made me so furious I was pretty sure I would snap.

Having said that-- ghettoness aside-- the movie is actually really good. It isn't really the acting or the plot, really even the story that makes this movie so entertaining. It is the dancing. Which is the very reason why I went with my girlfriend to see it. I used to be real into dance, personally, and while my girlfriend isn't, she likes to watch dance.

The choreography is great. Fantastic dance moves the whole way through. A woman just about can't get more hot then the lead character, and it is basically her ability to dance like she does that makes her so attractive. (By the way, lots of guys dance, too.)

The story could have been worse. It was fairly typical-- but not redundant-- and definitely fantasyland in terms of how people would really act VS. reality. First off, when they run from the cops-- and get away-- I say, very fat chance. Second, the nice lovie dovie part toward the end would have NEVER HAPPENED in that kind of club. The lead character and maybe some of her friends definitely would have been shot in real life.

But we don't go to the movies for real life. We get plenty of that, in real life.

The story moves at a fast enough speed, and there is good enough character development that despite lots of ghetto bullshit spread throughout the movie is definitely something that can be sat through while you wait for the cool dance scenes to come up.

All in all, it is actually a really good movie. Ghettoness aside.
