| Quote: | Sudan has enacted a ban on Danish imports in reaction to the reprinting of a cartoon that satirizes Islam's Prophet Muhammad, the Sudanese state-run news agency said Tuesday.
Seventeen Danish newspapers reprinted the cartoon -- showing Prophet Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban -- in a gesture of free speech on February 13, a day after three men were arrested in an alleged plot to kill the drawing's creator. |
| Quote: | Trade with Sudan is a small share of Danish exports. Danish trade with the Middle East and Africa consists mainly of dairy products.
Danish diplomats said Sudanese authorities had not notified them of the trade boycott, or of any plans to expel Danish organizations.
"I don't have any formal confirmation of this," said Denmark's charge d'affaires in Khartoum, Karin Soerensen. |
Let 'em ban those products. If they want to try to make their religion more important than anyone else's, they don't deserve products from countries who view religions as equal to each other. I still find the whole thing to be utterly silly. I hope more and more newspapers publish those cartoons.
