There's nothing to talk about. He's a paranoid delusional loon who is wrong and I am wrong. That really ought to end it, but he's not man enough to admit he made a mistake and went off his rocker when someone dared disagree with his sacred cow.

I'm not going to allow for personal attacks on another user to be in a signature OR someone's avatar--that's what THIS section of the forum is for, for personal attacks. If I didn't have a section for that, it might make sense to allow you to do that, but I have this message board categorized the way I do for a reason. I hope you understand.

I didn't get the message. I think you have to actively look into your IM box to see you have one. On the other forums, it gives a little pop-up message or something.

It seems to give one here--I just got some from a couple other people in the past hour. Do you have kizzume.com unblocked from NoScript? I'll try to look into whether there might be a problem with the option. There also may be a setting in your profile for this as well.... I'll get back to you on this...

I'm really disappointed to see Hackfest go. I was really looking forward to having a well-thought-out debate about ID.

I truly hope he's just taking a break for a while. I know that Technocrat can be caustic to people's religious sensibilities, but I really think this time Technocrat was being relatively civil until names and accusations started flying.

Man, I TRULY hope Hackfest comes back. Hackfest coming back was one of the things that gave me some more hope that I can get this forum really flowing again--now I'll have to resort to trying to find ways of advertising the forum without spamming. I think I should also put in my main logo graphic that this is a political and entertainment forum, so when people come here they know what the forum is supposed to be about....

I personally think the moderating ball got a little dropped. I don't know. I think we should have worked a little harder at keeping things civil.....

It also seemed like there was maybe a bit of a gang menatility pouncing on Hackfest. I think I was guitly at first but noticed what I was doing and stopped as soon as I did. I don't know. Anyway, I too enjoy Hackfest's presence and hope he can make it back. If so, maybe we can make some reasonable accommodations to prevent this sort of thing from happening again.

That may be, but I'd hate to lose an intelligent and prominent poster over an argument regarding some limited-release film, religious or not.

I guess it's really hard for me. There's no way to make everyone happy on a forum.

I was hoping that all this crap could be put on this thread, but I was too late in creating it.

I probably didn't help much with my rants and defensiveness about the whole thing, but at least I acknowledge that I'm being defensive. Technocrat doesn't seem to fess up to that, and neither does Hackfest--and they're so radically different from each other.

Strong personalities, when their viewpoints are almost polar opposites, will clash to no end. I have a strong personality, especially when I'm able to type what I'm thinking, using as much time as I need to say it. There are some personalities that I just severely clash with, but I still end up being able to have a discussion, even if SOME insults are being thrown out.

I knew I would eventually end up losing someone or even several people for the way that I handle moderation: I move or split the topic to a new area. I do not wish to change the way people say something. If its bot-spam advertising the kinds of things that email spam usually consists of, it is deleted--I want real people here with real posts, even if they end up getting nasty. Hackfest apparently could not take the heat of a strong direct personality on a polar opposite viewpoint, and I'm very disappointed--it is the reason why I am the most sad. I really thought Hackfest would take it, and I know he CAN, but I thought he would.

I am going to start a thread about another religious subject in a moment.

What pissed me off was really his backhanded comment and his "pfft, I just don't want respond," nonsense. I went through all the trouble of elucidating why I think ID is wrong, why his video is disappointingly dishonest, and it just gets shoved aside and he calls me acerbic and hateful without actually addressing anything I said. I took the time to respond to everything he said.

And I didn't even attack him in the beginning. I was minding my own business critiquing the film and he went apeshit assuming I was out to get him or something.

He particularly got offended when you ranked on Ben Stein. I was really disappointed that he just passed me off as something he didn't even mention because I put O'Reilly in the extremist category and then eventually put Stein there too. He's not as good of a debater as he thinks he is, but neither is Michael/Wolf, but at least Michael doesn't just give up, he at least tries and tries again. Hackfest has left this forum before, and I'm afraid this forum really isn't for the thin-skinned. I've said SO many times that this forum does NOT censor people and does NOT punish people for throwing insults, provided that it's done in the appropriate areas.

Technocrat, I really hope you KNEW why putting an insult to another poster in your signature or in your avatar would be offensive--if not, let me explain: I WANT civil debate and/or discussion, but if I can't get it all the time, I at least want the things that AREN'T civil in an appropriate place on the forum. If you put an insult in your avatar or signature, it brings that insult to EVERY post you make, turning EVERY thread you become a part of into one that is insulting someone, making it impossible to have a civil debate.

I KNEW when I changed my avatar on a forum that I will not speak of to something insulting that I was playing with fire. I'm pretty sure you knew too. Please don't resort to those kinds of tactics again--you are FREE to post whatever anger or whatever you want towards another poster if you post it in THIS area, Personal Attacks. That is why I have it here.

Sorry, but I just needed YOU to know this, and for anyone else reading this to know it too--please don't turn your avatar or signature into an insult at another poster on the forum, although you'd have to do it several times before I'd get really pissed off--the signature or avatar WILL be removed or replaced and a PM will be sent, as I did you Technocrat.
