This is rather disgruntling. Apparently, if you have a high IQ, you are not qualified to be on the police force. The rationality behind it is that if you're too smart, you'll get bored on the job.
??????!
What in the world are they thinking? Oh yeah, they're not.
This actually explains a lot of things.
I sure hope this doesn't occur in the military too.

We've been reading a lot about this here - New London is just a few miles away.
APPARENTLY, the latest information, is that the rationale is if you have too high an I.Q., you won't follow the law 'blindly' but will use your own intelligence and perhaps not honor all the laws equally.
It's the stupidest thing I've read in a long time...though the rationale makes sense, it's an unnecessary rationale! Policemen SHOULD use value judgment IMO!

I've seen this story a number of times and am really glad this guy spoke out because it has a lot of people talking about the subject.
Cops don't need to think. They're just hired thugs who do what their handlers tell them. From all of the incidents of police abuse, misconduct and outright criminal actions it's plain to see that some of these loose cannons are miscreants who only got the job for the power trip.
Recently there was a Critical Mass demonstration in NY where a cop body checked a random biker then lied about it on the report. He said that the biker tried to run into him and charges were filed against the biker for assault. The Critical Mass folks are getting a little wild lately, but this is no excuse for the officer to lie about the incident
.Rookie Cop In Hot Water After Video Released on YouTube
The only saving grace for this guy is that someone just happened to be filming the incident. Otherwise this guy would be facing some serious charges and jail time. Possibly ruinous. The very worst criminals are the ones who are on the 'right' side of the law. How many crimes have been committed by the residents at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue over the years? The powers that be do not want smart cops telling them that they are under arrest. TPTB want hired thugs that can hide behind a badge.
Don't get me wrong. Philosophically I agree that the police are hired by the people (society) to protect and serve. There are a lot of good cops out there too. Unfortunately there are too many incidents of bad cop behavior being covered up or ignored by the good cops. To me (not a lawyer) it would seem that the good cops are aiding and abetting the bad cops by not policing their own. Does this fall under 'conspiracy laws' since entire departments are involved? If the police don't like negative public opinions about them, then maybe they should do something about it. I won't even be friends with a cop because of the power they wield over life and death to me and my family should they enter my house even on a friendly basis. Your word against a cop in a court of law....yeah, I think we all know how that would work out.
As for the military, there are lots of 'grunts', but those that score high on the ASVAB are wanted and hounded by recruiters for the more intelligent jobs in the military - think crypto, nookUlar sub techs, etc. We want smart people in the military.
Now if we could just get a qualifying exam put in place for the house, senate and especially the 'unitary executive' branch. Dream on, HellFinger.

All I can say is that I agree completely.
