I got to see a bit more of the movie Sicko recently.

I am just SOOO disgusted with our current system. When people can go to even CUBA and get IMPORTANT things taken care of, and IT'S FREE, it's just so pathetic. The greed of corporate U.S. is just mind boggling.

Over in Europe, even when small things happen that people feel are wrong, the government is afraid of the people, not the other way around like it is here. We seem to be getting more like China, and that fear of the government seems to be increasing every year. It makes me wonder whether it will eventually be so difficult to leave this country, so we are forced to support the corporations, that we'll actually be like China, but for capitalism, not for communism.

I've put this in the rants section, but if a discussion really starts from this, I'll move it to Health and Medicine.

Why are the democratic presidential candidates (Clinton, Obama) pushing forth this ridiculous idea of

MANDATORY HEALTH INSURANCE?

If they support the idea of universal/socialized healthcare, why are they pushing forth something so ridiculous? Their plan is absolutely DOOMED to fail. DOOMED!!!

I can't imagine their plan will actually make it to legislation.

I quite frankly don't want to vote for either of them because of this plan. It's THAT important.

Doing NOTHING about the healthcare problem is MUCH better than their idiotic plans. I know I've went on about this before, but seriously--their plan as an answer to the healthcare problem makes as much sense as going after Iraq as an answer to 9/11.

Until they finally decide to drop this idiotic plan, I'm voting for McCain. Not that my vote matters anyway since the electoral college decides who is president--the people's vote is simply a very expensive and time-consuming sham.

Obama has stated many times now that his health care will not be mandatory. In fact Hillary has spun this and said "Under Obama's plan, not everyone will be covered." hehe. no, not everyone will be covered over Obama-- just everyone who wants to be.

I am for universal health care but would agree the requirement factor is a little silly. Do keep in mind that both candidates say they will give a tax credit up to $5,000 though for people who can't afford it.

Believe me, for reasons on top of health care, you really don't want to do that. Economically, we NEED someone who is willing to either A) Pull out of Iraq or B) Tax the people and pay for it. Borrowing and borrowing and borrowing is not fiscal policy-- it is a fiscal disaster.

If McCain wins, health care will be a problem because our dollar will continue to decline. Our economy is in big trouble and we can't fix it without some sort of change!
